Christian Discipleship...

Discipleship is, in the most simple of terms, the replication of something, or someone, in someone else. This implies that there ought to be something of value that is replicated.

Christian Discipleship is the daily relationship between a Christian and other believers such that Christ Himself, as resident in each Christian, is replicated in each other's lives. The walk of Discipleship is the journey toward God.  This journey is life-long, and can be seen in the believer's growth and maturing into a "Christ-likeness." Christian Discipleship is the daily walk of a Christian as evidenced by the ever increasing Christ-likeness that takes place as the Holy Spirit empowers the individual to "die to the old self" on a daily basis, and "rise with the risen Christ as a new person in Christ".  The Christian Disciple is identifiable by the fruit of this daily life in Christ, ever becoming filled by Godly love for others.  As the Christian Disciple matures, he or she disciples others.

Known by Godly love, a Born-Again believer belongs to the family of Jesus Christ. It is in daily devotion to Christ that the believer occupies himself or herself with the encouraging, exhorting, and teaching others about Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Father.  Through the Christian Disciple, God draws all of mankind to Himself.  Through the Christian Disciple, God does His work among us, pouring out His love for all of mankind.

The call of Jesus is, "Come, follow me."  The call is given daily through the life of each Disciple, who in turn calls others, and walks with those called, toward a deeper relationship with God, through Jesus Christ.

The Modern World

In the affluent sections of many towns, whole neighborhoods have walled themselves in behind steel gates. More and more Westerners are choosing to shop at home, away from the crowds.

As more and more people retreat, on-line connectivity, whether tethered by phone lines at home or work, or by ever-mobile portable devices like the Web-enabled phones, brings new freedom and a greater chance to participate in new relationships. Those who find themselves alone and isolated from others can now reach out and participate in others' lives. The communications "super-highway," whatever the physical and electronic form used, has become for many the sole social interaction of any significance. Of course, not everyone is in this unique situation, but the superhighway brings a wealth of new relationships to them as well.

In such a modern, cold, lonely society, you might find yourself hungry for something that you know should be, but can't put a name to.  Is there a deeper meaning to life?  Is there a deeper purpose for your life, other than merely living out an animal-like existance, an existance marked by birth at the beginning, and ending at death, with no hope for anything beyond?

The Human Condition

Pascal talked about a "God-shaped hole" in our hearts. The Bible calls it our Thirst for Living Water. Jesus the Christ (Christ simply means, "Anointed One" which refers to the fact that God Himself had "annointed" Jesus to be the One chosen to reconcile mankind to Himself) said that He alone is the Living Water, a water that quenches the very deep and critical thirst of our soul. Only He could bring relief to our deepest thirst.

Real Christianity is not a religion of knowing about God, and doing all the right things, as best as you can.

Real Christianity, a walk of costly grace and discipleship, is about knowing God, Himself, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

The International Christian Discipleship Ministries is here to encourage you in this quest of finding God, in drinking of His water, in the very Knowing God, directly.  We provide resources for your journey with God. We are here to offer tools and to foster relationships that will help you in the daily walk of your knowing God, and of being known by God.

Bibles are needed in the Philippines. The International Christian Discipleship Ministries is raising funds to purchase about 500 Bibles, to be given to believers of the Capital Alliance Church, and to students at their Bible College.

The need is for English Language Bibles, with both the New and the Old Testaments. In the local dialect of their native language, they only have available the New Testament. But, if they could obtain Bibles with...
